OTP expiry
One-time passwords need short validity periods and secure delivery to the registered contact.
Attempt limits
Repeated reference, mobile or OTP guesses must be throttled and rate-limited.
Parent-safe filtering
Only approved parent-facing status information should leave the internal admissions system.
Session protection
Authenticated status sessions should expire and should not expose one family's data to another user.
Audit trail
Sensitive status access and administrative changes should be traceable.
Recovery route
Parents need a verified support path if they lose the reference or no longer control the registered number.
Privacy boundary
Not every internal event belongs in the parent portal.
Staff notes, internal discussion, risk flags, operational comments and other restricted information should remain inside authorised school systems.
